Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak Emphasizes Political Stability and Police Reform
Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, emphasized that the current government was established with the primary goals of achieving political stability, sustainable development, economic prosperity, and promoting good governance. He highlighted the need for cooperation from all state apparatuses and sectors of society to realize these objectives.
Speaking briefly to the media at Janakpur Airport this morning, Minister Lekhak announced upcoming reforms to the organizational structure of the Nepal Police. He noted that the Nepal Police Act, which is 69 years old, requires timely revision to enhance the professionalism and capacity of the police force.
“The Nepal Police Act is outdated and needs to be updated. We aim to make the Nepal Police more professional by enacting new laws and strengthening its organizational capacity,” Minister Lekhak stated. He also mentioned that the revised act has been prepared and that the Finance Ministry has been approached for budget management to implement these reforms.
