‘I used to be more effective when I was a television journalist’

Rabi Lamichhane, the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has openly criticized the Federal Parliament, shedding light on what he perceives as a concerning lack of efficiency in the legislative body. During a House of Representatives meeting held on Thursday, Lamichhane revealed some alarming statistics regarding the parliament’s productivity, which has sparked discussions and debates throughout the political landscape.

Lamichhane, expressed his deep disappointment with the Federal Parliament’s performance, claiming that the institution has spent an astonishing amount of approximately Rs 60 million over the past six months, resulting in the creation of just a single law. This revelation has raised questions about the effectiveness and productivity of the parliamentary sessions.

“In the six months since the start of the second session, the Federal Parliament made only one law except for the budget,” Lamichhane asserted, underscoring the significant lack of legislative output over this period.

The former television journalist further emphasized his concerns, comparing his current role in politics to his previous career. He remarked, “I used to be more effective when I was a television journalist. I remember doing much more effective work in solving citizens’ problems.”
