Inspector Fredericks of ‘CID’ Passes Away

Veteran actor Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of Fredericks on the iconic Sony TV show CID, has passed away. The news was confirmed by his co-star and friend, Dayanand Shetty, who revealed that Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.

The 55-year-old actor had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital. Contrary to earlier reports of a heart attack, it was disclosed by Dayanand Shetty that Dinesh was battling severe liver damage. Last week, there were speculative reports about a heart attack, which Dayanand Shetty debunked, clarifying the underlying health issue.

Dayanand Shetty expressed his grief, stating, “Firstly, it wasn’t a heart attack, it was liver damage, because of which he was immediately rushed to Tunga Hospital, Malad. For the last two days, he has been very critical. Today morning (Sunday) also I’ve learned that there’s no major improvement. We’re hoping he gets better soon.”

The CID co-star further highlighted the unfortunate consequence of medication on Dinesh’s health, “Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment but the medication affected his liver adversely. That’s why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully. You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. One should be very careful regarding allopathic medicines.”

Dinesh Phadnis was widely loved for his portrayal of the funny and innocent CID officer Fredericks alongside Shivaji Satam and Aditya Shrivastava. The actor’s contribution to the entertainment industry will be remembered fondly. The last rites are scheduled to take place at Daulat Nagar Crematorium, Borivali East, as friends, family, and fans bid a tearful farewell to the beloved actor.
