Kaligandaki Corridor: Three Motorable Bridges Completed in Mustang

The construction of three motorable bridges along the Kaligandaki Corridor, a national pride project linking China and India, has been completed on the Benighat–Jomsom–Korala road in Mustang.

The Benighat–Jomsom–Korala Road Project Office, Mustang, built the bridges over Marphakhola in Gharapjhong Rural Municipality-2, Nursingkhola in Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality-6, and Charangkhol in Damodarkunda Rural Municipality at a total cost of Rs 310.78 million.

Project Chief Dhruba Kumar Jha confirmed that the bridges and access roads are now operational, enabling vehicle movement. A contract worth Rs 210.6 million had been signed six years ago with Himadung & Thokar Immortal Construction for the 120-meter-long motorable bridge over Marphakhola.

With the new permanent bridge in operation, travelers no longer have to rely on temporary wooden crossings, improving safety and connectivity. Lomshang Chomphel Bista (Raju), chairman of Lhoghekar-Damodarkunda Rural Municipality, noted that bids for road extension and additional bridge construction along the corridor are ongoing.
