Bhutanese Refugee Case

Khand, Rayamajhi and Others to Remain in Custody for Another Three Days

All 14 individuals implicated in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamazhi and former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, will remain in custody for an additional three days as the investigation continues. This decision was made by the Kathmandu District Court, granting the police’s request for an extension of the deadline set by the District Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The District Public Prosecutor’s Office had initially instructed the police to submit a report by Wednesday following the completion of their investigation. However, citing incomplete investigations, the police requested an extension of the deadline. The court approved their request, allowing for a further three days of detention.

Two days ago, law enforcement authorities announced the arrest of Top Bahadur Rayamajhi from the Budhanilkantha area. Rayamajhi’s arrest marked a significant development in the ongoing probe into the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, which has drawn national attention.

In addition to Rayamajhi, the police have apprehended Bal Krishna Khand, Keshav Dulal, Tanka Kumar Gurung, Sanu Bhandari, Sagar Rai, Indrajit Rai, Sandesh Sharma, Tek Narayan Pandey, Narendra KC, Sandeep Rayamajhi, Ram Sharan KC, Govinda Chaudhary, and Angtawa Sherpa.
