Lumbini’s New CM, Mahara, to Swear-In Today, Cabinet Structure in the Works
Jokh Bahadur Mahara, recently appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, is poised to take the oath of office and secrecy today.
Narayan Prasad Acharya, the chief private secretary of Amik Sherchan, the Chief of Lumbini Province, has announced that the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to commence at 2:30 PM at the Province Chief’s office in Butwal.
Following the resignation of former Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, Mahara, the leader of the Maoist Center parliamentary party in the province, secured the position with the backing of 48 provincial assembly members.
Today, Mahara is also expected to form a compact Cabinet. Sources indicate that efforts are underway to ensure representation from all coalition partners in the Cabinet formation process.
Discussions among the ruling parties’ leaders continue concerning the allocation of ministerial positions among the coalition partners. Sudarshan Baral, the head of CPN (Maoist Center) in Lumbini Province, confirmed that discussions regarding ministerial selection are actively ongoing.
Lumbini Province comprises 10 ministries, including the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.
