Mandatory Enrollment: Gorkha Municipalities Impose Rule to Send Children to Community Schools

In a bid to enhance the quality of education and promote community schools, public officials at the local level in Gorkha district are now mandated to enroll their children in public educational institutions. This directive, ratified by municipal executives, will be enforced across five municipalities in the district.

The Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality, Ajirkot Rural Municipality, Gorkha Municipality, Dharche Rural Municipality, and Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality have jointly issued notices instructing all public officials to enroll their children in community schools.

Mayor Krishna Bahadur Ranamgar of Gorkha Municipality emphasized the importance of community participation in bolstering the quality of education. He underscored that this regulation encompasses all public officials, including elected representatives, employees, teachers, as well as members of school management committees. Ranamgar further stressed the need for concerted efforts to uplift the standards of government-run schools.

Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality has taken a proactive stance by implementing this directive from the upcoming academic year.

Chairperson Lokprasad Banjara of Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality expressed optimism regarding the decision, asserting that it will contribute to elevating the quality and competitiveness of education in community schools.

This move signals a collective commitment to revitalize public education and ensure equal access to quality learning opportunities for all children in Gorkha district. As the enforcement of this mandate begins, it is anticipated to pave the way for holistic improvements in the educational landscape of the region.
