Missing Banquet Was Blessing, Constitution Day Turned Disappointing: Lamichhane Slams President

Rastriya Swatantra Party President and House of Representatives (HoR) member Rabi Lamichhane has expressed his gratitude to the government for reversing its decision to hike the prices of petroleum products. During a recent session of the lower house, Lamichhane criticized the government for not fully implementing the automated pricing system, emphasizing that it seemed to be applied only when prices increased but not when they decreased.

Additionally, Lamichhane raised concerns about the monopoly held by the Nepal Oil Corporation in the import, supply, and monitoring of petroleum products. He also questioned the President’s decision to grant clemency to a person who had been sentenced to death on Constitution Day.

During the House of Representatives meeting, Lamichhane voiced his objections to the President granting immunity to individuals involved in acts of violence committed during daylight. He also expressed his satisfaction at not attending President Paudel’s banquet on Constitution Day, revealing that he had enjoyed ‘Dhido’ prepared by a family in Rolpa instead.

“On Constitution Day, the President hosted a banquet. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend, but on that day, I had the opportunity to enjoy ‘Dhido’ prepared by a family in Rolpa by chance. Initially, I thought the President’s banquet was a celebration of the Constitution Day, which made me happy. However, it turned out that the banquet was not a commemoration of the constitution’s adoption. Instead, it was a gathering where individuals involved in acts of violence on the streets had been granted clemency. I’m glad I didn’t have to partake in that event,” he remarked.
