Multiple Tragedies Strike Across Nepal: Missing Fishermen, Landslide Buries Couple, and Diarrhea Outbreak Claims a Life
Nepal has been hit by a series of unfortunate events, with multiple incidents causing concern across the country.
In Bharatpur, the search continues for two men who went missing while fishing in the Rapti River at Jamunaghat, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-27. Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary, 43, and Shuk Bahadur Pariyar, 45, have been missing since Friday. Despite ongoing search efforts involving the Nepali Army, armed police deep divers, and locals, the men have yet to be found, according to Police Inspector Laxman KC from the District Police Office.
In a separate incident, a landslide in Barekot Rural Municipality has buried a couple, Prem Kumari and her husband Man Bahadur Chalune, in Dhuma. The landslide occurred at 2:00 am today. Their 11-year-old daughter was rescued with injuries and has been taken to a local hospital in Limsa. Efforts to rescue the couple are ongoing, with local police leading the efforts.
Meanwhile, a diarrhea outbreak in Janaki Rural Municipality has claimed the life of 34-year-old Holi Teli from Belhari, Ward No. 5. Naresh Shrestha, the Health Office Information Officer, confirmed that while cholera was ruled out, dehydration and lack of timely medical treatment might have contributed to his death. Additionally, three others have been diagnosed with diarrhea in the municipality. One patient is being treated at Bheri Hospital, another at the local health post, while the third has returned home after receiving treatment.
These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by communities across Nepal, from natural disasters to health emergencies.
