NA Peacekeepers Deployed to South Sudan

A contingent of 211 personnel from the Chandi Prasad Battalion of the Nepali Army (NA) has departed for South Sudan as part of a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission.

The team, led by Major Milan Acharya, left for Juba, the capital of South Sudan, last night. According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army, the deployment is part of Nepal’s ongoing commitment to global peacekeeping efforts under the UN’s mandate.

This latest deployment follows the return of the 213-member Aridaman Battalion, previously stationed in South Sudan, which arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday under the leadership of Major General Maheshwar Silwal.

Currently, 1,756 Nepali Army personnel are serving in South Sudan, including sector commanders, military observers, staff officers, and personnel from two battalions and one company.
