Nepali Congress Disrupts Parliament Session, Prompts 15-Minute Postponement
The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, disrupted Tuesday’s parliament session. The disruption was fueled by demands for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to investigate a cooperative fraud case allegedly involving Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
As proceedings began, Congress members raised their voices, insisting on a thorough probe into the alleged fraud case implicating the Home Minister. In response to the uproar, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire decided to postpone the meeting for 15 minutes.
Prior to the disruption, NC had convened a parliamentary party meeting earlier in the day, where they collectively emphasized the necessity of investigating Lamichhane’s purported involvement in the fraud.
NC has been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of their demands, underscoring that any consequences resulting from the disruption are to be attributed to the government’s lack of responsiveness.
