In a commendable move, the government has taken steps to support earthquake-affected regions in Jajarkot and Rukum West by offering free phone calls and SMS services through Nepal Telecom. Shobhan Adhikari, spokesperson of Nepal Telecom, announced that free communication services will be available for five days to assist the affected areas.
The decision aims to facilitate the exchange of vital information in these disaster-stricken areas. Additionally, individuals in these regions will also have access to free SIM cards, enabling them to make essential calls and send messages during this challenging period.
This decision was made following discussions and instructions from Rekha Sharma, Minister for Communication and Information Technology. The initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing essential support to those impacted by the recent earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West districts.
