Parliamentary Hearing Committee Calls for Complaints Against SC Justice Nominees

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has taken a step to address concerns regarding the nominations for the Supreme Court. Following the Judicial Council’s decision on November 21 to recommend six justices for the Supreme Court, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee convened at Singha Durbar on Friday to initiate the next phase of the process.

The nominated justices in question are Sharanga Subedi, Abdhul Ajij Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Kumar Pokharel, and Bal Krishna Dhakal.

To ensure a thorough and transparent evaluation, the committee has invited individuals or organizations with grievances to submit their complaints within a 10-day period from the publication of the notice. Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana, the committee’s Chairman, emphasized the importance of public participation in this crucial step of the nomination process.

This move underscores the commitment to accountability and fairness in the selection of justices for the Supreme Court, as the committee takes proactive measures to address any concerns raised by interested parties. The decision to solicit public input reflects a broader effort to uphold the principles of justice and transparency in the functioning of the nation’s highest court.
