The Parsa District Court has issued an arrest warrant against 14 individuals, including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, in connection with alleged savings embezzlement at Sano Paila Cooperative Limited.
On Wednesday, the court granted the Parsa District Police Office permission to apprehend the accused and conduct further investigations. Among those implicated are Lamichhane and former Vice-Chairperson of Gorkha Media, Chhabi Lal Joshi.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kishor Lamsal confirmed the court’s decision, stating, “We will proceed with the necessary legal process to arrest the accused and carry out the investigation.”
This is not the first legal action taken against Lamichhane in this case. Arrest warrants for him have also been issued by district courts in Kaski, Rupandehi, Kathmandu, and Chitwan. Authorities in these districts have already begun recording his statements as part of the ongoing investigations.
The case centers on allegations of financial mismanagement and embezzlement within Sano Paila Cooperative, raising questions about the accountability of public figures involved in cooperative operations.
Lamichhane, a prominent figure in Nepali politics, has faced several legal controversies in the past, but the scope and coordination of the current actions across multiple districts mark an escalation. The case is expected to draw significant public and political attention, given his high-profile status as a former minister and leader of a key political party.
Further developments are anticipated as investigations unfold and legal proceedings progress.
