PM Oli Calls for Greater Collaboration Among Government Tiers for Development

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the importance of collaboration among all three tiers of government for achieving development and prosperity.

In a special address to the Lumbini Province Assembly today, PM Oli highlighted that federalism has opened doors for development, but the progress of the country depends on coordination between the central, provincial, and local governments. He expressed his pleasure in visiting the holy land of Lumbini, recognizing the province’s historic and religious significance, particularly as the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha.

PM Oli noted that Lumbini province is rich in natural, cultural, and economic resources. He highlighted that the province’s successful capital establishment, infrastructure projects, including the newly completed international airport, wide roads, and the ongoing Siddhababa tunnel project, are indicators of its growth.

Addressing the development strategy for Lumbini, PM Oli stated that the province is working towards becoming an agriculture, tourism, and industrial hub. He emphasized that human-centric development should be a top priority. “Development has no meaning if there is no improvement in people’s lives,” he said.

The Prime Minister underscored the need for successful irrigation projects to promote agriculture, while also balancing development with environmental protection. He reiterated the central government’s commitment to the province’s overall development.

PM Oli also commended the Lumbini Provincial Government for the construction of the 1,200-bed Lumbini Provincial Hospital, the first major infrastructure project in the province. However, he stressed that collaboration between all levels of government is crucial to the successful operation of health institutions.

“The central government has not been able to fully operate the 1,000-bed hospital, and collaboration among the federal, provincial, and local governments is essential for this,” PM Oli said.

In addition, PM Oli urged the provinces to align their legal frameworks with existing federal laws when creating their own laws. He stressed that amendments may be necessary, but they should follow a unified legal approach to ensure consistency and effectiveness.

“Only by working together can we realize the dream of a prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali,” he concluded.
