Prime Minister Dahal to Depart for Italy Today

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, is set to depart for Italy today to participate in the United Nations Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2).

The event will take place in Rome, Italy from 24 to 26 July 2023, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Accompanied by his daughter Ganga Dahal, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr. Beduram Bhusal, Member of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr. Jay Kant Raut, and other senior officials of the Government of Nepal, Prime Minister Prachanda will represent Nepal at the summit.

During the summit, Prime Minister Prachanda, in his capacity as the Chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address during the official opening session on Monday, 24 July 2023. He will also participate in the Plenary Sessions, focusing on the agenda of School Meals on 24 July 2023 and Food System Transformation in Practice on 25 July 2023.

Additionally, on the sidelines of the event, Prime Minister Prachanda will hold significant bilateral meetings with esteemed dignitaries of the UN system, including the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), and the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), among others.

Moreover, an interaction with the Nepali community in Italy has been planned, with a program organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Italy.

Prime Minister Prachanda is expected to return home on 28 July 2023 after his engagement at the UN Food Systems Summit in Rome.
