Prime Minister Urged to Address ‘Dedicated’ and ‘Trunk Line’ Dispute Raised by Industrialists

Industrialists and businesspersons, led by the Confederation of Nepalese Industry (CNI), have brought the ongoing ‘dedicated’ and ‘trunk line’ row to the attention of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The industrialists met with PM Dahal, requesting him to initiate efforts to resolve the issue.

A delegation, headed by CNI’s Chairman Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, engaged in discussions with PM Dahal, urging him to address the problems in accordance with legal provisions. Recently, industrialists expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s directive, leading the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to cut off power supply to industries that failed to clear tariffs.

Agrawal argued that industrialists were consistently paying the NEA as per the invoice and benefiting from incentives provided by the NEA for timely payments in line with the invoice. He also called on the government to disclose meter details of industries allegedly running via dedicated feeder and trunk line during load shedding.

In response, PM Dahal emphasized the need to seek a positive solution, as outlined in a press statement released by CNI. The meeting signifies ongoing efforts to address the concerns raised by the industrial sector and foster collaborative solutions for the benefit of both businesses and the energy sector in Nepal.
