Sudurpashchim Province Chief Calls for Government Formation Within 7 Days
Sudurpashchim Province Chief Nazir Miyan has extended an invitation to political parties in the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly to submit their claims for government formation within a seven-day period.
Issuing a statement from the Office of the Province Chief, Miyan invoked Article 168(2) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, urging two or more parties to assert their claims for government formation.
The deadline for parties to secure the support of 27 assembly members for government formation is set for 5 pm on April 14.
A coalition comprising CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajbadi Party, and CPN (Unified Socialist) has agreed to form the government in Sudurpashchim, with Unified Socialist proposed as the leading party.
With UML and Maoist Center holding 10 seats each (including the Speaker) and Unified Socialist having four seats, the coalition falls three seats short of the requisite majority.
However, expectations are high for the support of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, which boasts seven members. Despite internal strife within the party, it is anticipated that Nagarik Unmukti will back Unified Socialist for government formation.
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party holds one seat in the province assembly, while one member is independent.
