Two commissions present their annual reports before President Paudel

Reports of two commissions-National Women Commission and Madhesi Commission have been presented before President Ramchandra Paudel.

In separate programmes organised at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas, today, Chairperson of National Women Commission, Kamala Parajuli, presented Commission’s 16th annual report and Chairperson of Madhesi Commission, Dr Bijay Kumar Dutta, presented the report of the Commission.

Saying the responsibility of the National Women Commission is intensive on the issues related to women’s rights, gender equality and women empowerment, President Paudel mentioned despite many efforts, the presence of women in some sectors is hopeful, representation of women in decision-level is not still satisfactory.

“The presence and contribution of women should be made more effective in other important areas of national life. I am confident that the performance of Commission will be more effective in coming days”, he stressed.

President Paudel laid emphasis on the need of launching a social campaign to uplift the living standard of backward women in villages.

Similarly, receiving the report of Madhesi Commission, President Paudel mentioned that there is linguistic and cultural diversity in Madhes like in the entire nation.

“Nepal is multi-linguistic and multi-cultural country. There is also diversity in language, culture, costumes, traditions, civilization in Madhes as like in the entire country. The culture of Madhes is the important means of maintaining identity and ownership of individuals and communities”, he further said.
