Woman Accuses UML Leader Mahesh Basnet of Rape, Complaint Lodged

A woman has come forward with serious allegations against CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet, accusing him of rape. The complaint, filed by the woman, has sparked an investigation by government authorities, shedding light on a disturbing incident involving a prominent political figure.

According to sources within the police department, the woman submitted her complaint to the district attorney’s office, detailing her ordeal and accusing Basnet of coercing her into sexual intercourse. The complaint further alleges that despite being in a relationship for an extended period, Basnet committed the crime and compelled her to undergo an abortion.

Upon receiving the complaint, the public prosecutor promptly forwarded a report to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, instructing them to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter. Kathmandu Police have confirmed the initiation of a preliminary investigation following the complaint.
