
16 Arrested in Connection to Youth’s Murder in Kathmandu


The Nepal Police have arrested 16 individuals suspected of murdering a youth during a gang fight in Khadkagaun, Kalanki, Kathmandu, on Monday evening. The accused were publicly presented on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Avaya Tamang, also known as Abe, hailed from Melung Rural Municipality-4 in Dolakha district and was residing in Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu. According to police, Tamang succumbed to severe injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu. He had been attacked with sharp weapons and iron rods by a group of 16 individuals.
Among the accused is Ashish Shrestha, originally from Parsa district and currently living in the Syauchatar area of Nagarjun Municipality-10. Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, confirmed that the suspects are being held in custody for five days for further investigation, as authorized by the district court.
The other suspects include Ashish Shrestha (21), Sujan Tamang (21), Raj Aryal (27), Denial BK (20), Nischal Blon Tamang (20), Sushan Shrestha (19), Binaya Alemagar (23), Khemraj Bahadur Magar (21), Ranjit Shrestha (22), and others from Kathmandu, Sindhuli, Sarlahi, Sunsari, Dhading, Udayapur, Gorkha, and additional districts.
Police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence related to the case.
