Dr. Bhattarai’s U-Turn: Decides to Run in 2084 Election

Former Prime Minister and Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) Chairperson, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, has decided to contest in the upcoming election. This decision marks a return to the political forefront for Dr. Bhattarai, who had previously expressed his intention not to run as a candidate in any of the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Bhattarai disclosed his candidacy during an interaction with constituents of Gorkha 2, a constituency deeply entrenched in Nepal’s political landscape. This move underscores his commitment to directly engage with the people and address their concerns, reaffirming his dedication to public service.

Bishwadeep Pandey, a prominent leader within the NSP, confirmed Dr. Bhattarai’s decision, indicating that it came after extensive consultations with the electorate. “Now, he will be contesting from Gorkha 2 in the 2084 election,” Pandey declared, signaling Dr. Bhattarai’s readiness to represent the constituency once again.

During his recent visit to Gorkha, Dr. Bhattarai engaged in dialogue with voters, reflecting on his past achievements and addressing current challenges facing the region. His decision to contest from Gorkha 2, a constituency where he previously emerged victorious, underscores his deep connection with its residents and their issues.

It’s noteworthy that Dr. Bhattarai’s abstention from contesting in his own constituency in the previous election had a significant impact on supporting the victory of CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson and current Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. However, his return to the electoral fray signifies a renewed commitment to serve the people and contribute to Nepal’s political landscape.

Dr. Bhattarai’s decision to run in the upcoming election adds an interesting dimension to Nepal’s political dynamics. It will be intriguing to see how this development shapes the electoral discourse and influences voter sentiment in the lead-up to the 2084 election.
