Dr. Swarnim Wagle Meets Sri Lankan President

Dr. Swarnim Wagle, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, engaged in a productive courtesy meeting with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe during a special gathering of enlightened diplomats, economists, and entrepreneurs from South Asia in Sri Lanka.

In their discussion, Dr. Wagle and President Wickremesinghe focused on several key topics, including Sri Lanka’s economic challenges and potential solutions, the strengthening of Nepal-Sri Lanka relations through Lumbini, the future of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), and emerging opportunities in information technology.

Notably, Dr. Wagle also extended a heartfelt appeal to Sri Lanka for its support of Dr. Shambhu Prasad Acharya, who is a candidate for the position of regional director at the Southeast Asia Regional Office (SERO) of the World Health Organization.

Furthermore, during their meeting, Dr. Wagle presented President Wickremesinghe with a copy of a research paper on Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, co-authored by himself and Prof. Dr. Prema-chandra Athukorala. This paper is expected to contribute valuable insights to the ongoing discourse surrounding Sri Lanka’s economic challenges.
