Five Major Parties Forge Seven-Point Agreement

Five political parties in Nepal have come together to form a pivotal Seven-point agreement. The parties involved in this historic accord are the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (UML), Rashtriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), and CPN (Unified Socialist).

The agreement, finalized during a high-level meeting at the official residence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Baluwatar, outlines a roadmap aimed at steering the nation towards prosperity, reinforcing international relations, and fortifying the federal democratic system in accordance with the spirit of Nepal’s constitution.

Key figures including Prime Minister Prachanda, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Rashtriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav have all pledged their commitment to this transformative agenda.

The core objectives of the agreement revolve around ensuring good governance tailored to the needs of the people, fostering development and social justice, safeguarding national interests, and prioritizing the welfare of all stakeholders. Emphasis is also placed on bolstering international relations to further Nepal’s global standing.

Furthermore, the parties have agreed to expedite resolution on critical issues such as the allocation of vacant seats in the National Assembly (NA), advancing discussions on forming a new coalition government, and addressing crucial matters pertaining to transitional justice and the peace process.
