Former envoy Shrestha’s book “Nepal-Pakistan Buddhist Relations” launched

The Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal, in collaboration with the Hiranya International Library, held a launching ceremony for the book “Nepal-Pakistan Buddhist Relations” on Saturday.

The book, authored by former Ambassador Hiranya Lal Shrestha, focuses on Pakistan’s Buddhist heritage and its ties with Nepal.

The event was graced by former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, who was the Chief Guest, and Abrar II Hashmi, the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Nepal, who was the Special Guest.

The occasion was also attended by prominent guests, including Professor Doctor Tri Ratna Manandhar, former Vice Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University, Bhikkuni Doctor Dhamma Vijaya, co-founder of Dhamma Moli Project, Doctor Gopal Pokharel, famous culture expert, and Mr. Kirpal Shrestha, former minister, as well as venerable monks and Buddhist scholars.

During the event, former Prime Minister Khanal emphasized the importance of cultural heritage as a significant facet of people-to-people contacts. He praised the efforts of Hiranya Lal Shrestha and described the Buddhist heritage as a joint legacy of both Nepal and Pakistan.

Ambassador-designate Hashmi appreciated the work of Mr. Hiranya Lal Shrestha and highlighted the shared Buddhist legacy between Nepal and Pakistan. He emphasized the significance of cultural and historical linkages as a permanent bond between the two countries.
