‘Government is serious on resolving problems of driving schools’

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government is serious about resolving the problems of the driving schools.

Receiving a memorandum submitted by a delegation of the Driving School Association of Nepal at his office in Singha Durbar today, he also expressed commitment to take ahead discussions on the existing issues through the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Department of Transport Management.

Among other things, the memorandum calls for incorporating a provision to present a certificate of having taken training from a driving school while registering an application for a driving license. The Association argued in the memorandum that the production of skilled drivers has decreased and there is a big loss of life and property due to the increasing number of accidents due to lack of this provision.

Similarly, the Association has demanded provide exemption on customs tax on vehicles used by the driving training centres in providing training to the learners and to make provision for the vehicles to be of the same colour.

Association president Ram Chandra Shrestha said that through the memorandum a demand has also been made for having a provision so that all the training centres can use the training site commonly for the training purpose.
