Government Recommends Ambassadors for 4 Countries and 2 UN Agencies, Excludes Canada

The government has recommended ambassadors for six out of seven vacant positions in various countries, as well as a permanent representative for the United Nations Permanent Mission in New York.

The cabinet meeting, which took place on Tuesday, made these recommendations, and the decision was signed by Chief Secretary Dr. Baikunth Aryal on Friday.

The recommended ambassador for the United Nations Permanent Mission in New York is Joint Secretary Lok Bahadur Thapa. Thapa, who currently serves as the head of the Northeast Asia Division, previously served as the Nepalese ambassador to Belgium.

Joint Secretary Ramprasad Subedi has been recommended for the UN Mission in Geneva. Subedi recently returned from his assignment as a deputy at the Nepali Embassy in Delhi and is currently heading the South Asia Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government has recommended Joint Secretary Sudhir Bhattarai, who currently holds the position of Chief Etiquette Commissioner, as the Ambassador to France. Joint Secretary Dhan Bahadur Oli has been recommended as the Ambassador to Thailand, Tej Bahadur Chhetri as the Ambassador to the UAE, and Ghanshyam Lamsal as the Ambassador to Kuwait. Notably, the government has not recommended an ambassador for Canada, as Ambassador Bhriguprasad Dhungana has completed his tenure there and returned home.

Recently, Amrit Bahadur Rai, who served in New York, Mani Prasad Bhattarai from Geneva, Krishna Prasad Dhakal from the UAE, Durga Prasad Bhandari from Kuwait, and Deepak Adhikari from France have all completed their tenures and returned to Nepal.
