Govt forms high-level committee to probe Ncell share sale issue

The government has formed a high-level committee to investigate the matter about the sale of share of Ncell, the telecommunications service provider, based in Nepal.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers today constituted the five-member Committee headed by former Auditor General Tankamani Sharma. The Committee has been assigned to present its report to the government within a month, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

Government secretary Phanindra Gautam, Finance Ministry’s joint-secretary Ritesh Kumar Shakya, joint secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Baburaj Bhandari, and ICAN President Sujan Kumar Kafle are members on the probe Committee.

Similarly, the meeting has appointed Rudra Prasad Gautam as the Chair of Drinking Water and Tariff Fixation Commission while Yashoda Karki and Kulbhushan Sharma have been appointed the members.

Likewise, the meeting has formed talks team under the convenorship of Finance Ministry’s joint secretary to negotiate with the proposal regarding the World Bank assistance for the ‘Provincial and Local Road Improvement Programme- first phase’.
