HoR Meeting Postponed Until Wednesday Amid Opposition Obstruction
The scheduled House of Representatives (HoR) meeting faced a halt today as the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) obstructed proceedings for 15 minutes. The obstruction led to a postponement of the session, which has now been extended until Wednesday.
The decision to prolong the postponement for a week came in response to NC’s adamant stance on initiating a committee to investigate the cooperative scandal. NC’s top leaders had previously convened and reinforced their demand for the establishment of a probe committee to delve into the cooperative fraud.
Despite deliberations, an agreement on the committee’s formation remained elusive, thus preventing the HoR meeting from resuming its activities. The deadlock underscores the ongoing tensions within the parliamentary sphere, raising concerns about the progress of legislative affairs.
