Inclusive Governance Key to National Unity: Minister Gurung
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has emphasized the importance of inclusivity in fostering national unity. Speaking at the launch of the Gorkhapatra news bulletin in the Wambule Rai language on Thursday, he highlighted the need for inclusivity in every facet of society.
“Our constitution envisions a participatory society, and the State must reflect this inclusivity in federal governance,” Minister Gurung stated. “Inclusive governance is essential for strengthening national unity and fostering a sense of ownership among all communities.”
During the event, Gorkhapatra Sansthan Chairperson Vishnu Prasad Subedi noted that the publication has been offering news in multiple languages since 2064 BS under its New Nepal section, with content currently available in 45 languages.
General Manager of the Corporation, Lal Bahadur Airee, urged the Ministry to allocate additional funds to support its expanding services.
Chairperson of the Wambule Language Society, Gajurdhan Rai, stressed the State’s responsibility to safeguard and promote the nation’s diverse languages, including Wambule, which faces the threat of extinction.
Byakul Maila, poet and lyricist of Nepal’s National Anthem, expressed his appreciation for the government’s policies aimed at addressing the needs of various linguistic and cultural communities.
The launch of the Wambule Rai-language news bulletin is seen as a significant step toward preserving Nepal’s linguistic heritage and promoting inclusivity in governance.
