Indian NDRF Team Joins Search for Missing Buses on Trishuli river
The search operation for the two passenger buses and their passengers, swept away by a landslide on the Narayangadh-Muglin road, has been bolstered by a team from India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav informed RSS that the 12-member NDRF team commenced their search efforts at the incident site this morning.
The tragic event occurred on July 12 when two passenger buses were swept off the road and into the Trishuli river below at Simaltal on the Mugling-Narayangadh road. Out of the 65 passengers on board, only three managed to survive, while 62 people went missing. So far, the bodies of 25 passengers have been recovered from various locations along the river. However, the fate of the remaining 37 passengers and the two buses remains unknown.
The NDRF team was requested by the government of Nepal due to a lack of sufficient modern tools necessary for conducting an effective search in the flooded river. The deployment of the Indian team aims to enhance the search operation’s efficiency and bring closure to the families of the missing passengers.
