Inquiry Commission submits report on gold smuggling to government

The Inquiry Commission on the Illicit Import of Gold (Smuggling) -2080 BS has presented its report to the government. Commission Chairperson Dilli Raj Acharya submitted the report to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, today.

Upon receiving the document, the Home Minister pledged to implement its recommendations, stating, “The necessary actions against the guilty parties and necessary corrections will be carried out.”

The government is committed to taking action against any entities and individuals responsible for the identified weaknesses, the Home Minister affirmed. He also mentioned that those accountable for enabling the guilty to evade punishment in the past will face legal consequences.

On October 2, 2023, the government constituted the Commission, with former judge Acharya as its leader, and Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, Kishore Jung Karki, and Prem Raj Joshi as its members.
