Jokh Bahadur Mahara Appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province

Jokh Bahadur Mahara, the parliamentary party leader of the Maoist Center, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. This decision came following the resignation of former Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary on Thursday.

Mahara submitted a list of 44 lawmakers supporting him, representing various parties, to Province Chief Amik Sherchan. Under Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, the Province Chief appoints the leader of the parliamentary party commanding a majority in the Provincial Assembly as Chief Minister.

Following due process, the secretariat of the Province Chief officially notified the appointment of Jok Bahadur Mahara as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. Mahara’s support included 29 lawmakers from CPN (UML), 10 from CPN (Maoist Center), 3 from Janata Samajbadi Party, 1 from Unified Socialist, and an independent member.

Mahara, assuming the responsibilities of Chief Minister, expressed his commitment to serving the people of Lumbini Province diligently. His appointment marks a new chapter in the political landscape of the province.
