Minister Jwala discusses with infrastructure experts

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, held a thematic discussion with experts on physical infrastructure.

Minister Jwala held the discussion with infrastructure experts—Suresh Raj Acharya, Megh Raj Dhital, Prof Dr Taranidhi Bhattarai, BB Deuja as well as others being focused on road safety and roads to be constructed.

On the occasion, he said the government was serious on how the challenges seen in road safety and road construction could be resolved in view of geographical complexities. Stressing the need of expanding roads to villages, the Minister added that safety of the road expanded as well as to be expanded has become challenging as many villages lie at Chure and Mahabharat range.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry, Keshav Sharma, mentioned that they discussed various issues including past and present condition of road in Nepal, geographical context, road safety in coming days.

The experts suggested the construction of tunnel way as per the country’s geography even though it would be very expensive.

Landslide and flood damage the road and its bearing capacity turns fragile quickly. It is necessary to construct tunnel way to resolve the problem and to start immediate study of the road that are in operation, according to the experts.

High level officials of the Ministry were also present in the discussion.
