Nepal to Receive 3.29 Billion Japanese Yen Grant for Hospital Upgrades

The government has announced its acceptance of a generous grant of 3.29 billion Japanese Yen from the Japanese government. The funds are designated for the implementation of the Dhulikhel Hospital Trauma and Emergency Center Improvement Project, aimed at enhancing critical medical infrastructure in the country. The decision was made during a recent cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

Apart from this pivotal decision, the cabinet also discussed and approved various other important matters:

– Credit Regulation Amendment: The Fourth Amendment to the Credit Regulation has been approved, marking a step forward in financial policy.

-Participation in AIIB Meeting: Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Finance and Governor for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, will lead a delegation to the eighth annual meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, on September 25-26, 2023.

-Financial Market Regulations: Amendments to the Securities Registration and Issuance Regulations have received official approval.

-Public Health Policy: The National Drinking Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Policy for 2023 has been given the green light, focusing on improving public health infrastructure.

-Social Reforms: The Age, Caste, and Name Correction Rules for 2023 have been amended to address important social considerations.

-International Election Observation: Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari will observe the presidential election in Maldives from September 7 to 12, 2023.

-Global Diplomacy: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will lead a delegation to the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

-Rural Healthcare Development: Chingad Rural Municipality of Surkhet has been granted permission to establish a 15-bed basic hospital on allocated land.

-Environmental Initiatives: Approval for creating temporary gazetted posts for multiple projects under the Ministry of Forests and Environment was granted for the fiscal year 2023/24.

-Educational Growth: Creation of temporary gazetted posts for the Medical Education Commission and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has been given the go-ahead.

-Cultural Recognition: The late singer JB Tuhure will be posthumously honored with the title of ‘Jana Gayak’ for his exceptional contributions to music and the nation.

-International Mayor’s Conference: Rajesh Man Singh, Mayor of Birganj Metropolitan Municipality, is set to participate in the 2023 ICMA Annual Conference in Texas, USA, from September 30 to October 4, 2023.

-Urban Development: The creation of temporary gazetted posts for various agencies under the Ministry of Urban Development for the fiscal year 2023/24 has been approved.

-Condolences: Heartfelt condolences have been expressed to Sudan Kirati, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, on the passing of his father, Harka Bahadur Rai.
