Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Announces Reforms Following Fatal Helicopter Crash

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has announced the initiation of immediate, mid-term, and long-term reforms, prioritizing aviation safety. This move follows a tragic helicopter crash that resulted in the deaths of four Chinese nationals and one Nepalese national, Arun Malla, on Wednesday in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7, Suryachaur, Nuwakot.

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey committed to focusing on aviation safety for the next week, temporarily suspending all scheduled programs except for the most urgent. He assured that the ministry and its affiliated agencies would be mobilized to implement necessary reforms.

Minister Pandey called for support, cooperation, and suggestions from all stakeholders to address the challenges faced by the aviation sector. The Ministry has requested recommendations for both immediate and long-term actions to be sent to its official email address.

In his statement, Minister Pandey paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the accident and expressed heartfelt condolences to their families.
