Prachanda Commits to Facilitating Internships in Nepal for Medical Students Returning from Bangladesh
Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has pledged to arrange internships in Nepal for medical students who recently returned from Bangladesh. The students had to leave their internships in Bangladesh due to the challenging situation following recent political protests.
During a meeting with the students, Prachanda expressed his commitment to discussing the matter with the government. He emphasized that internships in Nepal could be arranged on a one-time basis, given the special circumstances. The students appealed to Prachanda for assistance, citing the legal provisions that allow for internships in Nepal under exceptional situations.
In response, Prachanda contacted the Registrar of the Nepal Medical Council, Satish Kumar Dev, to inquire about the possibility. Registrar Dev informed that the Education Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Health Ministry had already decided to permit the students to complete their internships in Nepal due to the special situation. However, he noted that a formal decision by the Cabinet is required to implement this arrangement.
