Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Inaugurates New Kathmandu Police Building, Emphasizes Vigilance and Integrity
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the Nepal Police, which holds primary responsibility for maintaining peace and security in the country, to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing any untoward incidents. He emphasized the importance of forecasting potential offenses, conducting thorough investigations, and implementing maximum preventive measures.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed District Police Range building in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu, today, the Prime Minister urged police personnel to stay highly alert to forces that could destabilize the nation. He called on the police to carry out their duties with dedication to the citizens’ interests.
“The current government will not instruct the Nepal Police to avoid arresting criminals or to frame the innocent,” Prime Minister Oli stated, affirming that his administration is committed to serving the nation and its people. He underscored the expectation that the Nepal Police would perform at its best, always adhering to the Constitution and the law.
The Prime Minister, who leads a coalition government, reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting stability in the country. He also assured police personnel that promotions and transfers within the institution would be based on merit, with no need for undue influence or favors. “This government does not entertain undue approaches and influence,” he emphasized, encouraging police officers to carry out their duties with confidence.
The newly inaugurated police building, constructed at a cost of Rs 1.26 billion, is situated on 15 ropanis of land purchased from the former Nepal Food Corporation for Rs 1.10 billion. The District Police Range, which began its operations in 2012 BS from Hanumandhoka, now has an advanced facility to support its work in maintaining law and order in the capital.
