Prime Minister Prachanda Calls for Eradication of Discrimination
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized the urgent need to eradicate all forms of discrimination against humanity in his address on the occasion of the 59th International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The Prime Minister asserted that until discrimination is eradicated, the achievements of societal change cannot be secured.
Despite constitutional guarantees, the Dalit community continues to endure caste-based discrimination, with incidents of insult, suppression, exploitation, and violence persisting. PM Dahal called for collective efforts to eliminate biases, including gender-based, linguistic, and regional discrimination, to foster an inclusive and discrimination-free society.
Recognizing the Dalit community’s significant role in driving political transformation, PM Dahal stressed the importance of their mainstream involvement in building a federal, inclusive democratic republic. He highlighted the necessity of proportional representation and legal prosecution for caste-based discrimination, emphasizing every citizen’s right to equality and independence.
PM Dahal proposed a social awakening and political campaign, coupled with robust law enforcement, to effectively implement constitutional and legal provisions safeguarding the rights of Dalits. He underscored the imperative of eliminating caste-based discrimination, labeling it as a crime against humanity, and called for a renewed phase of struggle for its eradication.
