UML Begins Selection Process for Illam-2 By-Election Candidacy

As the by-election for Illam-2 looms closer, the CPN-UML has initiated the process of selecting its candidate to vie for the vacant seat in the House of Representatives (HoR). This by-election follows the unfortunate demise of Subhash Nembang, the former HoR member representing the constituency.

Scheduled for April 22, the Election Commission has set the stage for a pivotal moment in Illam-2’s political landscape. In anticipation, the CPN-UML has taken proactive steps by establishing a district committee tasked with the crucial responsibility of selecting the party’s candidate.

Currently, the field of contenders within the party stands at five, with notable aspirants including Suhang Nembang, the son of the late Subhash Nembang. Alongside him, other applicants vying for the CPN-UML candidacy include Rabindra Subedi, Buddi Khanal, Devi Chhetri Dhulal, and Rippal Rai.

The competition for candidacy signifies the high stakes involved in this by-election. As the constituents of Illam-2 eagerly await the emergence of their new representative, all eyes are on the CPN-UML’s decision in the days to come.
