Unified Socialist to hold its first general convention in January

The CPN (Unified Socialist), a party that emerged following a split from CPN-UML, has confirmed its first general convention, scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 1, 2024, in Kathmandu. The decision was reached by the party’s central committee and signifies a pivotal moment in the party’s trajectory.

Aiming to rejuvenate its ranks and reach a wider audience, the party has opted to increase the involvement of young members in its central committee. This strategic move is expected to attract more youth to the party’s fold. Additionally, there is a strong commitment to ensuring the inclusion of minority, backward, and marginalized communities within the party’s ranks.

The CPN (Unified Socialist) is also actively engaged in preparing for a statute amendment that will reflect the party’s evolving perspectives. Unified Socialist General Secretary, Ghanashyam Bhusal, has emphasized the importance of this amendment process in shaping the party’s future direction.

The upcoming general convention is set to be a forum for discussions regarding the party’s ideological stance and the relevance of people’s multiparty democracy. Alongside these crucial discussions, the convention will also see the election of new leadership, further underlining the party’s commitment to renewal and reinvigoration.

As the convention approaches, the CPN (Unified Socialist) is poised to embark on a journey of transformation and reflection, as it charts its path forward in the political landscape of Nepal.
