China Reportedly Orders Suspension of Boeing Jet Deliveries Amid Escalating Trade Tensions

China has reportedly instructed its airlines to halt the delivery of aircraft from U.S. aerospace manufacturer Boeing, amid intensifying trade tensions between Beijing and Washington.
According to a Bloomberg News report published Tuesday, sources familiar with the matter said Chinese authorities have directed domestic carriers to suspend not only the intake of Boeing jets but also the purchase of aircraft-related equipment and parts from U.S. companies.
The move comes as part of China’s broader response to the United States’ recent escalation in tariffs. Since President Donald Trump took office, the two global economic powerhouses have been embroiled in a spiraling tariff dispute. The U.S. has imposed duties of up to 145 percent on Chinese imports, prompting Beijing to retaliate with its own tariffs reaching as high as 125 percent.
Chinese officials have described Washington’s actions as unlawful and accused the U.S. of economic “bullying.” With tit-for-tat measures continuing, Bloomberg also reported that the Chinese government is considering support measures for domestic airlines leasing Boeing aircraft, which may now face higher operational costs due to the tariff hike.
The rising tensions have unsettled global markets and strained diplomatic ties, with President Trump’s administration implementing aggressive trade policies that have impacted both allies and adversaries. Although a temporary freeze on further tariff increases was announced last week, Beijing has yet to see any significant easing of pressure.
Neither Boeing nor China’s foreign ministry has issued an official comment on the reported suspension of aircraft deliveries.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials announced some exemptions last Friday from the latest wave of tariffs, specifically for high-end technology products like smartphones, semiconductors, and computers.
