Dr. Shekhar Koirala Supports Teachers’ Demands

Dr. Shekhar Koirala, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), has voiced his support for the demands made by agitating teachers in Kathmandu over the past three days, emphasizing that these demands are fully in accordance with the constitution.

As a prominent figure within the ruling party, Dr. Koirala has called upon the government to take the teachers’ demands seriously. He highlighted that these demands are not only practical but also firmly grounded in legality and constitutionality.

Dr. Koirala underlined the crucial role of quality education, starting from the early stages, in cultivating a skilled workforce. He stated, “To nurture a competent workforce, it is imperative that we provide quality education from the primary levels.”

Furthermore, Dr. Koirala commended the invaluable contribution of teachers in bolstering the education sector. He expressed his desire to incorporate essential provisions in the Education Bill, thereby seeking a resolution to the ongoing movement through consensus.

Expressing deep concern, Dr. Koirala lamented the unfortunate circumstance where teachers, who have played a significant role in the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic, are compelled to shutter their schools and take to the streets to assert their rights.

Similarly, he stressed the government’s responsibility in addressing such sensitive issues promptly and effectively.
