The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has taken a statement from Dipesh Pun, the son of former vice-president Nanda Kishor Pun, regarding his alleged involvement in a gold smuggling case. Dipesh Pun, who is also the general secretary of the student wing of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center), was summoned to the CIB Office and questioned for over three hours on Monday.

The police have raised suspicions about his involvement in the case due to his association with Dawa Tsering, who has already been arrested in connection with the gold smuggling case. So far, a total of 27 individuals have been arrested in connection with this case, including Rahul Mahara, the son of Maoist Center Vice-chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

Additionally, Prateek Thapa, the son of former home minister and CPN-UML Vice-chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa, is also allegedly linked to the gold smuggling case according to police sources. Prateek is currently on the run after an arrest warrant was issued for his involvement in a fake Bhutanese refugees scam.
