Nepal-India Ties Must Be Strengthened for Regional Prosperity: Parliamentary Committee Chair Yadav

Raj Kishor Yadav, Chair of the International Relations and Tourism Committee under Nepal’s House of Representatives, has emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation to strengthen Nepal-India relations.
Speaking at an international conference in New Delhi on “Nepal-India Relations: Relevance of Buddha’s Teachings in Neighbourhood Diplomacy,” Yadav underscored the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties between the two nations. He highlighted the importance of religious tourism, advocating for the promotion of the Buddhist, Ramayana, and Mahabharata circuits to further reinforce bilateral relations.
Yadav also stressed the need to accelerate infrastructure projects, including cross-border railways, roads, energy transmission lines, and digital connectivity. He called for the expansion of Nepal-India cooperation in trade, investment, and technology, particularly in hydropower, industry, and tourism. He also urged greater interoperability in the digital payment system between the two countries.
Pointing to the recently signed trilateral energy agreement, Yadav highlighted its potential for regional cooperation and called for substantial efforts to maximize its benefits. He further urged Nepal and India to leverage regional platforms like SAARC, BIMSTEC, and BBIN to foster broader regional development and stability.
“Both nations must commit to making these initiatives a practical success. Physical and digital connectivity should be key pillars of our cooperation for economic growth, social progress, and regional stability,” Yadav remarked.
