Nepali Army Officer Honored with Prestigious Sandhurst Medal
Nepali Army Officer Kalyan Paudel was conferred the esteemed Sandhurst Medal by Major General Zachary Raymond Stenning, OBE, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The Sandhurst Medal is awarded to international cadets who successfully complete the rigorous Commissioning Course, marking a significant milestone in their military careers.
This recognition holds special significance for Nepal as the Nepali Army has been sending Officer Cadets to Sandhurst since 1952, fostering a longstanding tradition of excellence and camaraderie. Major General Zachary Raymond Stenning, OBE, has been at the helm as the Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst since August 2022, overseeing the training and development of future military leaders.
The Sandhurst Medal, sanctioned by the British Ministry of Defence, was introduced in 2016 to honor the exceptional achievements of international students who complete the Commissioning Course. Joining an illustrious cohort of over 5200 international alumni from 129 different countries, recipients of the Sandhurst Medal also gain open membership to the Sandhurst Trust, facilitating continued connections with the Academy and fellow coursemates.
