Nepali Congress to Oppose Bagmati Province Chief Minister in Confidence Vote

The Nepali Congress, the main opposition party in Nepal, has decided to vote against Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel of Bagmati Province in an upcoming confidence vote.

During a meeting held in Kathmandu today, the party’s Bagmati province committee instructed its parliamentary party in the province to stand in opposition to CM Jamkattel in the confidence vote set for Monday.

The confidence vote, crucial for CM Jamkattel to maintain his position, requires him to secure a minimum of 56 out of 110 votes in his favor.

The current political scenario in Bagmati Province reveals a diverse assembly with 37 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, 27 from CPN-UML, 21 from CPN (Maoist Center), 12 from RPP, seven from CPN (US), three from Nepal Workers Peasants Party, and two from Hamro Nepali Party.

This move by the Nepali Congress could potentially have significant ramifications for the political landscape of Bagmati Province.
