New Committee Chairpersons Sworn In at House of Representatives

The newly elected chairpersons of various thematic committees within the House of Representatives took the oath of office and secrecy today. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Speaker Devraj Ghimire on Monday afternoon.

The distribution of responsibilities based on expertise and representation is apparent in the selections. Ramhari Khatiwada has been elected to lead the State System and Good Governance Committee, Arzu Rana Deuba will be heading the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee, and Santosh Chalise will be taking the helm of the Finance Committee.

Among the representatives from CPN-UML, Rrishikesh Pokharel has assumed the role of chairman for the Public Accounts Committee, while Kiran Kumar Shah will be leading the Women and Social Committee. Representing CPN (Maoist Center), Bimala Subedi has been chosen as the Chairperson of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee.

On the committee diversity spectrum, Deepak Kumar Singh from the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party has been appointed the Chairman of the Infrastructure Development Committee.

The Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee will be under the leadership of Abdul Khan from Janamat Party. Notably, Sunday saw Ganesh Parajuli of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party contesting against Khan. However, after Parajuli withdrew his candidacy on Monday, Khan was unanimously elected as the chairman.

Further solidifying the leadership landscape, Rajkishore Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal will steer the International Relations and Tourism Committee.

Bhanubhakta Joshi, representing CPN (Unified Socialist), assumes the role of Chairman of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee.

This diverse group of newly appointed committee chairpersons is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping and directing the legislative agenda, ensuring comprehensive representation, and addressing a range of issues that impact the nation and its citizens.
