Newly elected MP Dr.Karki resigns from Nepal Medical Council
A newly elected Member of Parliament, Dr. Tosima Karki has resigned from the post of member of the Nepal Medical Council (NMC).
Dr.Karki went to the NMC on Sunday and submitted her resignation.
She was elected from Lalitpur Constituency No. 3 from the Rastriya Swatantra Party in the election to the members of the House of Representatives held on November 20.
After receiving a complaint that she became a candidate without resigning from the position of a member of the council, the Election Commission had rejected her candidature. But the Supreme Court overturned the commission’s decision and ordered that KC’s candidacy be maintained.
NMC Registrar Dr. Krishna Prasad Adhikari said that Dr. Karki came to the council on Sunday and confirmed her resignation. “Her resignation letter came yesterday (Sunday). We have forwarded the letter to the Ministry of Health,” he said.
