Rastriya Janamorcha Party Withdraws Support from Government

The Rastriya Janamorcha Party (RJP) has officially withdrawn its support from the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Party Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC made the announcement through a press statement issued on Thursday, citing irreconcilable differences with the current administration.

The decision comes amidst mounting discontent within the RJP regarding the direction and policies of the government. Chairman KC emphasized that the party can no longer continue its support to the administration led by Prime Minister Dahal.

Furthermore, the RJP criticized Prime Minister Dahal’s recent appointment of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), as the Home Minister. The party expressed concerns over this decision, highlighting ongoing investigations into Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in cooperatives fraud.

In response to the withdrawal of support from the RJP, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has initiated a new coalition with the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML), RSP, and Communist Party of Nepal (United Socialist). This coalition has led to a Cabinet reshuffle, executed promptly on Thursday.

The formation of this new coalition marks a significant shift in the political landscape, effectively breaking the alliance between the ruling parties and the Nepali Congress along with other parties. The reshuffle underscores the evolving dynamics within Nepali politics and sets the stage for potential changes in government policies and priorities in the days to come.
